Rafa - The King of Clay

Yesterday, 'The King of Clay' proved once again, that when it comes to clay, it is very hard to beat him.
Rafel Nadal beat Novak Djokovic 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 to win his 9th French Open title in 10 Years.

Starting from 2005, Nadal missed the oportunity in 2009 when he lost the match against Robin Söderling in the 4th round. Nadal have a stunning record of 66-1 [win-loss] in 67 matches at Roland Garros. apart from 2009, he had won french open from 2005 to 2014.

Sunday's victory at Roland Garros marked his 5th consecutive French Open title and 14th Grand Slam. now he joins Pete Sampras with 14 titles, just behind Roger Federer. Federer holds the record of  most number of Grand Slam titles with 17 titles.

"You are a great champion, Rafa," Sampras said in an email sent to CNN. "Congratulations on number 14."

Yesterday, I was curious as all other fans to witness a great match of one of the greatest rivalry in tennis history. Novak Djokovic and Nadal have met 42 times with Nadal having a 23–19 advantage.

Djokovic had won the four previous matches between the pair but suffered a sixth successive loss to his biggest rival at Roland Garros. It was also his fourth straight defeat by Nadal in grand slams, including three finals.

In Yesterday's match Djokovic started the match quickly by winnig the first set. The Spaniard came back strongly in the next sets to beat Djokovic 3-6, 7-5, 6-2, 6-4 to confirm that he is indeed 'The King Of Clay'.

Congratulations Rafel Nadal and Maria Sharapova. Now all eyes is on Wimbeldon. lets hope that both these champions will do well again. All the best.
