Popular Malayalam actor Kalabhavan Mani passed away at a private hospital in Kochi on today, Sunday (March 6). He was 45.
Unwell for a while, Kalabhavan Mani was hospitalized for the past two days. “The actor was admitted to Amrita Hospital in Kochi yesterday. He
was critical and was in the ICU. He died at 7:15 PM today,” said a
hospital officials.
In a career spanning close to a quarter century, Mani has acted in
around 200 films and of late, was seen more often in Tamil films.
born Mani Raman Chenathunad in Chalakudy, Kerala on 1st of January 1971, Kalabhavan Mani started his career as a mimicry artist in Kalabhavan, Kochi.
He started his acting career in the Malayalam film Aksharam as an auto
driver. Since then, he has acted in several movies as a comedian.
He came to the forefront with his role in Sallapam, which incidentally was the first big hit of super star Daleep. but his brilliant performance as blind man in the film “Vasantiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njanum” brought him more recognition. He won the state award for best actor in 1999 and he won the special jury award at the national awards.

Apart from being a great actor, He was also a professional playback singer and a singer of Nadan Paattu
(folk songs). His first album was Kannimanga Prayathil.
He has since
established a parallel industry of Nadan Pattukal selling a record
number of releases. He has also released a few religious songs and
Mappila Pattukal.
He made memorable roles in Tamil films like Gemini, Jay Jay, Aaru, Anniyan and Papanasam.
Kalabhavan Mani is survived by his wife Dr. Nimmy and his daughter, Sree Lakshmi.
Kalabhavan Mani's death came as a shcok for Malayalam and Tamil film industry. He was a very talented artist. Its a great loss. may his soul rest in peace.

who hailed from an economically backward family at Chalakkudy in
Thrissur district, started his career as mimicry artist at Kalabhavan.
He was an auto-driver in Chalakkudy before he became a full time actor.
