Nadigar Thilagam - Shivaji Ganesan

Remembering one of the greatest actor India ever produced, the university of acting, Chevalier, Nadigar Thilagam - the one and only Shivaji Ganesan sir.

born as Vettaithidal Chinnaiah Ganesan in Villupuram, Tamil Nadu on October 1, 1928 Shivaji sir raised to stardom in his debut movie Parasakthi in which he showcased his extraordinary acting skills and dialogue delivery.

The versatile actor, who has acted in around 300 films over a period of five decades in several languages including Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi, has delivered innumerable commendable and unforgettable performances.

Shivaji Ganesan was the first artist from India to visit the United States, in the cultural exchange programme of the US government, in 1962, invited by the then-US President, John F. Kennedy, where he took the role of India's cultural ambassador.

During his visit there, he was honoured by being made the honorary mayor of Niagara Falls, New York for one day and was presented the key to the city.

When President Gamal Abdel Nasser of Egypt visited India, Shivaji Ganesan was the only individual, granted permission by the then-Indian Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, to host a party for Nasser.

Marlon Brando once stated - Shivaji can act like me, but I can never act like Shivaji.

1966 – Padma Shri from the Government of India
1984 – Padma Bhushan from the Government of India
1992 – National Film Award – Special Jury Award for Thevar Magan
1995 – Chevalier awarded by the National Order of the Legion of Honour of France.
1996 – Dadasaheb Phalke Award

A statue of Ganesan was erected on Kamarajar Road in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to honor the actor and was unveiled by the then Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi in 2006.
I always adored Shivaji sir and always will. he is one my favourite actor of all time.  I was amazed by his brilliant performances in various movies in various roles. He is the pride of Tamil cinema and of course Indian cinema too. It is very hard to choose few films from shivaji sir's glorious movies. but still I have tried. below is the list of
