Famous Tamil lyricist and Poet Na Muthukumar passed away


Famous Tamil lyricist and Poet Na Muthukumar passed away today in Chennai. Na Muthukumar, 41 was suffering from jaundice for the past few days. The death of Kodambakam's most happening and talented lyricist came as shocker to the Tamil film industry.

Muthukumar was a lyricist, poet and columnist. He has penned lyrics for more than 1000 Tamil films. Some of his notable works includes Kaadhal, Vaaranam Aayiram, Naadodigal, Thuppakki, Singam, Nanban and Neethane En Ponvasantham. He has written dialogues for Ajith’s starrer Kireedam, directed by A. L. Vijay.
 
Na Muthukumar was born on July 12, 1975 Kanchipuram, Tamil Nadu. He lost his mother when he was just 4 years old.

Muthukumar began his career aspiring to be a director and worked under Balu Mahendra for four years. But then he became a lyricist. Tamil film Veera Nadai, directed by Seeman was Na Muthukumar's debut as a lyricist. Soon he became most wanted lyricist.


Na Muthukumar had written nearly 103 songs in 2012. A rare feat by any lyricist in Tamil cine industry.
He had won the National Award for his lyrics for the songs 'Aanandha Yazhai Meetugiraai' in Thanga Meenkal and 'Azhage Azhage Ethuvum Azhage' in Saivam.


Its very unfortunate that he passed away so early. A great loss to Tamil film industry.
