Legendary Music Composer M.S. Viswanathan passed away

Legendary Music Composer M.S.Viswanathan passed away at a private hospital in Chennai this morning around 4:30 AM. He was 87.

M.S.Viswanathan was admitted to the intensive care unit of Fortis Malar Hospitals on June 27 with breathing difficulty and his condition had been worsening ever since.

M.S.Viswanathan was born on 24 June 1928 in Elappulli village in Palakkad, Kerala as Maniyanga Subramanian Viswanathan to Manayangath Subramanian and Narayanikutty

Popularly known as Mellisai Mannar [King of Melody] among tamil people, M.S.Viswanathan had produced evergreen and soul stirring, timeless songs that were going to live in tamil music lovers heart forever.

MSV's career in the film world started with the Jupiter Studios in Tirupur. An office boy, his regular work involved cleaning the harmonium of the S.M. Subbiah Naidu, the music director of the studio. Later he joined C.V. Subbaraman, another music director.

M.S.Viswanathan and Ramamurthy combo gave some extrordinary music to tamil cini music.

Though T.K. Ramamoorthy was a senior to MSV, later thinker-comedian N.S. Krishnan felt that the duo have MSV's name first. Ramamurthy was the violinist of music director C.V. Subbaraman. MSV-Ramamurthy composed music for over 750 films before their separation. They came together again in 1995 to compose music form the film Yenkiruntho Vanthan. Ilayaraja had collobrated with MSV in three movies.

when talking about MSV we cant avoid the names of the great lyricist like Kannadasan, Vaali and Pattukottai Kalyanasundaram, with whom he collobarted to produce the more meaningful and soulful songs.

I remember a speech from lyricist Vaali sir talikng about MSV in a function, He told 'before meeting MSV I didn't had anything to eat, but after meeting MSV I didn't had time to eat'

we all looked up to AR Rahman and worshipped him, but AR Rahman consider  M.S.Viswanathan as his Idol. in fact M.S.Viswanathan has rendered his voice to few ARR songs like 'Adalganda' from Sangamam and 'vidaikodu engal naade' from Manirathnam Kannathil Mutthamittaal

MSV's funeral will be held on Wednesday morning at his residence on Santhome High Road in Chennai.

He is going to live among us through his music.
