pk movie review

pk movie : Today I watched, the long awaited, most anticipated Hindi movie, Aamir Khan starrer pk, which was released yesterday.

the movie starts with Jagat Janani (Anushka Sharma) narrating a story that she experienced. it starts with her love life, after having a disappointing love experience in Belgium she comes back to Delhi, where she works in a news channel. when she was in a desperate search for some hot news, she accidentally finds a strange looking man who was in search of God.

Jaggu [Jagat Janani ] finds him as interesting, so she follows him and tries to understand him. It turns out that the stranger is an alien. what follows is a aliens experience on earth. pk [Aamir Khan] as they call him, finds everything strange in the new place. the questions arises in his mind about the people of the earth and the way the live, starting from wearing dress, money, religion and God everything looks new and strange from him.

when pk seeks a solution for the problem that he is facing, everyone tells him that only God can help him. so pk decides to find the God who can solve his problem. during course in finding the God he slowly understands the complexities involved in religion and God. the first half of the movie is very thought provoking and funny.

the second half is about how pk solves his problem and what happenes to Jaggu's love.  second half bit more dramatic than the first half.

all those rational and intellectual people that I admired came into my mind when I was watching the film. watching pk is like watching myself on the mirror and talking to myself.  that is how I felt, because what ever the questions that I had and the answers that I found for these questions from past  a decade or more and the arguments that  I had with friends and family members about our religious beliefs and the customs that we follow, I could see all those things in the movie.

pk is a movie with the right mix of entertainment, emotion and message. it will question your beliefs and the way of life. it is thought provoking and funny.

Rajkumar Hirani's typical way of telling a story of serious subject in a humorous way. pk is a satire. it questions everything from god to religion. the movie is not against religion or God but it is against the bad things happening in the name of religion and god. how some selfish individuals cheat people by using their fear and problem of their life to make money in the name of god and religion. the blind beliefs that people follow.

the game that we play in the name of religion, to show that we belong to a particular religion is something that ridiculed me over the years. starting from the name, or having something in our four head or having beard or putting something on your head to show that we belongs to particular religion. all these games that we play in our society is showcased in the film.

when it comes to performance, needless to say that Aamir Khan steels the show with his acting.  his different look and body language with the unblinking large green eyes and big ears and Bhojpuri slang [which I found it difficult to understand]  Aamir Khan justifies his role as pk the alien.

Anushka has done her job well so does Sanjay Dutt, Bomman Irani, Sorabh Shukla and Sushant Singh Rajput.

The film's soundtrack is composed by Shantanu Moitra, Ajay-Atul and Ankit Tiwari with lyrics are penned by Swanand Kirkire, Amitabh Varma and Manoj Muntashir. I can say that the songs are so good but they go along with the movie without disturbing the narration.

So once again Aamir Khan and Rajkumar Hirani combo repeated their magic with pk after 3 Idiots. we have to appreciate the film cast and crew for their wonderful attempt.

pk provokes us to reevaluate the values that we believe in and the kind of life that we are living. we need to take a alien look at our life and our belief system by stepping outside of it. taking larger and broader view of things to understand it better.

pk is a must watch. don't miss it.
