Witness : Harrison Ford

As I mentioned earlier, post Frantic:Harrison Ford, I re watched lot of Harrison ford movies from couple of months.

I started with 'Witness', then went on to see 'The Fugitive', 'Blade Runner', 'Air Force One', 'Patriot Games' and 'Frantic'.

As I mentioned earlier, these posting are the attempt to discuss, all the above movies that I have seen,  but may be less popular Ford movies among the Indian film lovers.

This is post is about 'Witness' 1985 film directed by Peter Weir [directed Dead Poets Society] starring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis, Lukas Haas and others.

The film begins in an Amish Community [Group of traditional Christians who lives a simple life without using modern technologies]. An Amish man dies. His widow Rachel Lapp and 8 year old son Samuel leave on a train journey to visit Rachel's sister.
In the train station in Philadelphia, the little boy witnesses a murder in the restroom.

Harrison Ford stars as John Book, the police detective investigating the murder. Book questions the only witness, the small Amish kid Samuel.
Samuel is unable to identify the perpetrator from mug shots or a police lineup, but notices a newspaper clipping with a picture of narcotics officer James McFee (Glover) and recognizes him as one of the killers.

Then it turns out that the police department itself is implicated in the killing. Ford is nearly murdered in an ambush. His life and the lives of the widow and her son are in immediate danger. He manages to drive them all back to the Amish lands of Pennsylvania. but was badly wounded.

what started as thriller, at this point of the movie, the story slows down a bit and focuses on the love angle of Rachel and Book and how book copes up with Amish life.

on the other side Books enemies are trying hard to find where he is. they tracks him down and The corrupt officers arrive at the place and search for Book.
the climax is about how Book manages to protect himself and his witness and family from his enemies.

Witness is a good movie with right combination of thrill and romance. I don't know how many movies depicted the life of Amish people[at least something] . Its worth witnessing 'Witness'.
