The world has witnessed lots of wars since the human civilization begun. It may be the war between the tribes or kingdoms or nations or civil war or world war whatever it may be. The earth has drunk lot of blood due to the deadly battles. the so called scientific advancements in the Field of military weapons can eliminate existence of human race in a particular region within a minute. There is lot of reasons for wars. There is lot of problems in the world. The human race is praying for peace.
In 2003, Nobel Laureate Richard E. Smalley identified war as the sixth (of ten) biggest problems facing the society of mankind for the next fifty years. In the 1832 book "On War", by Prussian military general and theoretician Carl Von Clausewitz, the author refers to war as the "continuation of political intercourse, carried on with other means." War is an interaction in which two or more opposing forces have a “struggle of wills”.
Today is world peace day also known as the international day of peace. September 21 is dedicated to peace, or specifically the absence of war. It is observed by many nations, political groups, military groups, and peoples.
The first year this holiday was celebrated was 1981.To inaugurate the day, the "Peace Bell" is rung at UN Headquarters. The bell is cast from coins donated by children from all continents. It was given as a gift by the Diet of Japan, and is referred to as "a reminder of the human cost of war." The inscription on its side reads: "Long live absolute world peace.
The United Nations General Assembly declared, in a resolution sponsored by the United Kingdom and Costa Rica, the third Tuesday of September as the International Day of Peace devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace.
Tuesday, September 21, 1982, was the first occurrence of the International Day of Peace.
In 2001, the day was changed from the third Tuesday to specifically the twenty-first day of September
In 2005, United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan called for the worldwide observance of a 24-hour cease-fire and day of nonviolence to mark the Day.
It is estimated that 378 000 people died due to war each year between 1985 and 1994
