AB De Villiers record

AB De Villiers fastest odi century: The South African skipper AB De Villiers has created history by scoring a fastest  century in one day international cricket here in Johannesburg, against west indies in the 2nd ODI of the ongoing series.

The 2nd ODI between South Africa vs West Indies is going on right now at at New Wanderers Stadium, Johannesburg, South Africa. earlier West Indies won the toss and chose to field.

South African openers HM Amla and RR Rossouw punished the West Indies bowlers and both the openers made centuries. [HM Amla scored 153 and RR Rossouw scored 128] but West Indies problem didn't end there, in fact the really problem began when the Proteas’ captain AB De Villiers joined the party.

AB DevillersAB De Villiers brutal attack on the West Indies bowlers, got him to his fifty in just 16 Balls, 19 minutes , set the world record of fatset half century by breaking the previous record held by Sri Lankan batsman Sanath Jayasuriya, who scored 50 of 17 balls against Pakistan in 1996.

He needed a further 15 balls to break Corey Anderson’s year-old fastest ODI century record and any West Indian hopes that De Villiers would subsequently relax were soon dismissed as he and Hashim Amla continued to pepper the New Wanderers Stadium boundary.

AB de Villiers set a new world record by getting his hundred in just 31 Balls and broke the previous record held by New Zealand batsman Corey Anderson who scored a 36-ball hundred against West Indies in Queenstown in 2014.

He came in to bat in the 39th over in this game. It took only 40 Minutes for De Villiers to get to his hundred. He smashed 16 sixes, equaling the world record for the most sixes in an ODI innings, by Rohit Sharma during his innings of 209 against Australia in 2013.

The wicketkeeper-batsman could not score another to make the record his own, however, when he went for another huge hit off Andre Russell and was caught at deep extra cover with two balls left having scored 149 from 44 balls.

The Proteas ended their innings on 439 for two, four runs shy of the highest ever ODI score by a team - set by Sri Lanka in 2006 against the Netherlands.
