Where we are heading?

Author : Pooja Sharma
I am still trying to come to terms with this day. Is there any humanity left in this wild country and a blood-thirsty world?

First, the ghastly incident of MH17 being shot down and killing two hundred and ninety eight people[it pricks more than just a number 298] and then a 6-yr old being raped within the school premises - and this was in my backyard! my city and in my neighborhood!!

Shock, Anger, extreme frustration over seeing such things happening repeatedly and shame. But certainly not feeling scared or in fear. After the Delhi rape case I had pledged to be an aware citizen and keep an eye on every vehicle I pass by, not to forget keeping a stole and pepperspray at all times with me.But from today onwards, I refuse to accept any filth being offered to my family and my kids.

We keep talking about some malice in some 'society' and I don't even know if such a society exists...well, if it does, then we are very much a part of that society and do share that 'cheap mentality'.
As much as the so-called 'modernists' try to hush away such 'senseless comments' and especially the media, carefully and carelessly tries to push out such thoughts under the carpet, I still fail to understand how a majority of people are 'okay' with all that is being fed to our kids these days. I'm talking about the 'entertainment media' and everything that comprises of it- TV, radio, FM stations, internet, and even the newspapers by large.

The sick kind of movies being made today, the filthy lyrics that are stemming from some cheap minds and are being blatantly pictured in even dirtier scenarios is just outright porn.

The ads of deos and drinks are nothing close to creative. The daily soaps only offer confusion and do little to educate women on their rights. Instead they justify:
why a victim of rape marries her rapist and eventually falls in love with him...

Why any middle class girl is forced to marry her multi-millionaire boss who marries her only to take revenge and 'show' her 'her' place, but that again eventually gets justified as 2 souls made for each other,

Why every protagonist faces the 'other' women and Oh,my! even the 'other' woman has a reason to be in their lives and returns time and again to get back God knows wat!

It's easy to say, just 'switch off' the TV! I agree...I did! Long back I gave up reading newspapers...but did the horrifying news stop? No..

I gave up TV as well...but are those contents not being viewed by minds that can be easily corrupted? or the corrupted minds that are just feeding on some more filth?
I put on the radio...and every FM station wants to 'hog' audiences by playing what they claim is the 'latest'!

'Love/sex aur dhoka darling', 'tu phuljari aur main diwali', 'pink lips', 'baby doll', 'i'm good in bed', 'Fugly[F** Ugly]', 'aaja aaja piya ke bazaar mein' and the latest 'wat the fark'! is everywhere...
Should i switch it off too? alright, agreed! I did it too...

Does that switch off crime? dirty thoughts? desires which have long forgotten AGE? Well...No!
If we are to bring up our kids in this century, it certainly wont help to jail them in a closed room and put out all forms of media.

If they dont get it at home, its easily available everywhere else!
What needs to change, is acceptance of such dirt! I refuse to accept it...do you??

  1. switching off the TV set or FM wont help Pooja. the human mind should switch of all the evil things in it.

the so called civilized society of ours should stop pretending that we are civilized. we are not.

we really have to come out of the jungle and truly become a civilized society. having said that I have to admit that it will never going to happen in our life time. it will take time.

human being have been on earth about 200,000 years but our so called civilization might have 10k of history. it will take thousands of years.

    4. I Agree that there is a need of strong law enforcement to avid such crimes but it human nature that should change. otherwise no matter how many rules or laws government impose , nothing going to change unless the animal instinct in human changes.
